Ancient Building Scan in Shanghai

Ancient Building Scan in Shanghai

Ancient buildings are the vein of historical inheritance and the carrier of human civilization. They are the time memory of a city, the cultural gene of a nation, the witness and participant of history, and the bearer and transmitter of cultural information.

Ancient buildings generally have complex architectural structures, rich colors, very high cultural values, and have undergone a long period of erosion and are very fragile. In order to record and protect them scientifically and effectively, 3D laser scanning technology can be used for data acquisition and archiving.

Compared with traditional surveying methods, the data obtained by 3D laser scanning technology is more accurate. The use of 3D laser scanning equipment to obtain data, and then accurate analysis and processing, can develop a scientific and reasonable repair plan.

3D laser scanning can operate in outdoor environments, non-contact, and with complex light sources, and can collect a comprehensive 3D spatial model of a building, dimensions, structure, color, texture, details and materials, and many other types of information at once.

Examples:

Shanghai old town acient building scan:

A large number of historical ancient building sites in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas included in the national protection of buildings, due to the age of the original blueprint of the building is lost, the building aging serious, and even some of the buildings still in residential applications due to illegal construction of debris pile up resulting in the original structure can not be distinguished. The ancient building repair work has brought great difficulties.

There are 12 ancient units with 44 buildings in totoal。

Solutions

UAV aerial photography examines the building's land area and surrounding environment and obtains an aerial view of the building, and UAV tilt photography fits the overall 3D model data of the building's appearance.

We use large-space 3D laser scanner for building interior structure data acquisition.

Additionally, the handheld scanner is used for local scanning of architectural details, combined with a high-precision robotic arm laser scanner, which can obtain fine data on the details.

Detailed scanning: Artec and Faro Arm

We use Artec handheld scanners to quickly capture accurate 3D data. Artec is compact and lightweight, requiring only a laptop to work with, with flexible controls for easy portability and no need to apply spot powder.

Faro robotic arm scanner has high scanning accuracy, built-in hot battery can be used without power, no need for field calibration, and can be scanned when it is turned on. The flexible arm joints and the intelligent balancing system make operation very easy. Laser scanning does not affect the scanning results even when the light is dark.
